Making / installing seat headrest padding.Photos of the process where I made headrest padding from foam tiles to prevent helmets from getting scratched during incidental contact. They also prevent an unsuspecting passenger's head from knocking the fiberglass seat on acceleration.
- making a template
the seat top was covered with masking tape and the rough shape of the desired padded section was drawn - EVA foam rubber
EVA foam rubber padding was used - widely available from any sporting goods store - positioning
the foam was cut with a very sharp X-acto knife, the edges were sanded & contoured, and it was positioned - masking the seat
the seat was masked to protect it from any adhesive that got squeezed out - adhesive applied and clamped
- the final result
the masking and clamps were removed - repeat for passenger seat
as I was happy with the results on the driver's seat, it was time to repeat the process for the passenger seat - adhesive
3M emblem adhesive was used - a preliminary test showed that it stuck to fiberglass and it was possible to remove it semi-cleanly
